Brown Bag Talk : Representations of Sinophone Homonationalisms in Popular Culture

本論壇透過「華夷風」以及「同志國族主義」兩個概念，探討近日爆紅的同志題材電影《刻在你心底的名字》所提起的各項議題。這兩個概念如何在台灣同志公共場域裡聚焦、交織、還有發酵？同時，本電影在票房和言論上的熱度，如何讓台灣對自己國民、對華語圈、對亞太地區，還有對世界，關於同志社會地位的論述上增添色彩？

This talk discusses 2020 hit Taiwanese queer film, “Your Name Engraved Herein”, through the dual lenses of ‘the Sinophone’ and ‘homonationalism’. How do these phenomena intersect in a unique way with respect to the Taiwanese queer public sphere? What does the success of the film mean for Taiwan and its discursive location – speaking not only to its citizens, but to the Sinophone, the Asia-Pacific region, and the world, about the role of queer people in society?
